Matthew's jaw floundered as he opened and closed it a few times. Did... Toris know that was a joke, or not? "It... it was just a joke," Matthew clarified, just for the sake of making sure they were on the same page. "This should be plenty. Unless you too like to consume mass quantities of maple syrup." Matthew bit his lip to hold back a smile but it peeked through anyway. He wasn't quite sure why he had started to tease the Lithuanian nation, but he couldn't quite seem to find the off switch at the moment.

"Haha...just thought I would make sure.." Lithuania trailed off, rubbing the back of his head as he grinned at the other. "I cannot say I have ever used maple syrup in... excess."
Placing his hand on the armrest of the couch, Lithuania's expression switched back to concern as he stared carefully at Matthew. "You never answered if you were feeling alright, Mr. Canada. Can you reach everything okay..? I would be happy to prepare your plate, if needed." Toris gazed with a kind smile, anxious to make sure the other Nation would be comfortable, eager to find out if the food was satisfactorily.

Oh. He hadn't answered that question, had he? "I've... been better. But I think I'm okay for the moment." He shot a sideways smile at his company, who had been acting more as the host on this occasion, and reached for a few pancakes. "Let's eat. I'm famished. And for future reference, so far I haven't encountered 'excess' maple syrup." Matthew smiled down at his plate as he covered it in golden syrup. "I'm actually trying to find out if such a thing exists," he joked.

Lithuania nodded, realizing that he too was rather hungry, and placed a couple pancakes on his own plate with a side of chopped fruit. Once Canada was done Toris picked up the syrup, looking at it thoughtfully. "...No such thing as excess..?" Maybe he was not giving the sweet liquid enough credit. With a small chuckle he trickled on a light coating of syrup, hesitating before placing the container down, not certain if he should add more to his pancakes.
...Because a small part of him worried he might unknowingly offend the Canadian, if he did not use an adequate amount of syrup.

Matthew was actually quite hungry. Hungrier than he'd realized until he'd smelled the hot, golden cakes sitting before him. He dug into his pancakes with fervor and began to eat, hoping the Lithuanian would see his action as appreciation of the food and not impoliteness. "It's good," Matthew told Lithuania, quickly swallowing so he wasn't speaking with his mouth full. Already a third of the way through his plate, he glanced down and saw Kumajirou had decided to join them, his head cocked in that way he did when he was begging without actually begging. Matthew shook his head at the bear. "Nope. Sorry Kumakaji. You'll get your fish dinner after we're done," he told his bear.

Relieved his food was edible, Lithuania's eyes sparkling with appreciation, his face beaming as the Canadian devoured his food. The compliment sent him in high spirits, and he started on his own plate, nodding to himself in approval of the combined taste.
Half way through his plate, Toris found himself pausing mid-bite, turning to the conversation between Canada and Kumajirou. Did he... did he hear that correctly? The Lithuanian fixed his gaze right at the begging bear, giving him a 'Were you dishonest with me?' stare as he slowly resumed chewing his bite.

Matthew reached for his apple juice and took a drink. He glanced down at Kumajirou, who was still staring at him, and sighed a little. "Patience, Kuma. Don't you remember what patience is?"
"Pancakes?" Kuma asked, ignoring Matthew's question and begging instead.
"No," Matthew said firmly.
"I'm hungry," the bear informed him.
the Canadian hummed softly. "You're always hungry."
"Food," Kuma said, the word coming out like a growl, but not a threatening one. More a sound of impatience, from an undersized polar bear. Matthew sighed and began the process of standing up.

Lithuania listened to the conversation between the Nation and his companion animal while he ate, continuously giving a sideways glance to the begging bear.
I should not have fed him.
But he was hungry.
"You're always hungry," Matthew replied to Kumajirou. Liet bit his lip nervously. [/color] Maybe I should tell Canada, what if Kumajirou gets sick because I fed him something he should not have?
Toris faltered when he heard the small growl emit from the bear. ... I'm being foolish, it was just a little pancake... And what if Canada gets mad at Kumajirou instead of me? He did not want to see the bear punished...
"Oh! Mr. Canada, wait!" The shifting of the couch pulled the Lithuanian from his thoughts, and he stood up quickly, waving his hands to stop the Nation. "Let me get it for you... Kumajirou's food, right? I'm sure he can show me where everything is..." Toris looked toward the bear with a smile, hoping Kuma would agree.

Canada glanced from Kumajirou to Lithuania a few times before finally tilting his head. "I-if you want to, I guess. It's in the back of the fridge. Show him, Kuma," Matthew ordered.
The bear blinked at his master a few times before turning and padding off toward the kitchen, obviously expecting Lithuania to follow without even glancing back. Matthew flashed a quick smile at Lithuania. "It's a big box. You can't miss it." Matthew glanced after his pet. "Just one though. He'd eat 'em all if you let him. Fish is his favorite. Well that, and pancakes," Matthew added, making a face that was half unhappy and half proud.

"Ahha... y-yeah, he really does seem to love pancakes..." Lithuania replied, his face adding a dusting of pink to his cheeks as he grinned and nodded in confirmation. "You just keep eating, I will take care of everything!"
Lingering only a moment longer, the Lithuanain bounced after the bear, catching up to Kuma right as his backside was about to disappear around the corner.

Kumajirou knew exactly where he was going and he knew exactly what he was doing. The green guy was going to get him food. Not pancakes, like earlier. That was too bad. What's-His-Name had been a little stricter about feeding him pancakes lately. He said they weren't really good for him. So he had told the green man to get fish for him.
The bear sat in front of the fridge and pawed at the door, looking back to see where the brunet nation was. "Hurry up," Kuma told him.

"Ah, coming!" Liet assured Kumajirou, completely unfazed regarding the notion of receiving an order from a talking bear. He closed the distance between himself and the fridge handle, reaching out and opening the door to peer inside. "Hmm let's see... big box..." his face lit up, "is that it?" Toris asked, pointing to a box near the back of the fridge.

The cool air from the refrigerator hit the bear's nose and he began sniffing for the box that held the flakey treasure. He went up on his hind legs so he could see the top shelf where What's-His-Name always kept the fish.
"Is that it?"Green Man asked, pointing. Kuma sniffed.
"Yes, that's it," the bear affirmed, dropping back to the floor so the Green Man could get the fish for him.

After pushing a couple food items out of the way, Liet pulled the orange colored box closer, lifting the lid cautiously to peer at the fish inside. "Hmm... how about..." A few moments of deliberation later, and Toris carefully pulled out the best looking, decently-sized fish he could find. "How about this one Kumajirou?" he asked, holding up the fish so the bear could see.

Kumajirou rose up, lifting his front legs off the ground, and sniffed the fish that the green man was holding, his black nose twitching. "Yes," he confirmed after a few seconds. "That one is good." He dropped his front paws back to the ground and watched the Lithuanian in anticipation. That was what What's-A-Cana always said to do. Be patient. Or something like that, anyway.
